1932 MG J2

Source: MG J-type Market – classic.com

This is my first cyclekart project. After trawling the web, I finally landed on a 1932 MG J2 and took inspiration from this little beauty. At the time, classic.com had a full set of images, which I saved so I can work from reality. More images…

Progress is not fast. I’m learning how to weld again, was introduced to plasma cutting, and have been learning to use a small metal-lathe for the first time since I was 11 at intermediate school. (We had such training in the early 1970s!) And like others, work and life also require time, so my progress has been erratic at best. Absolutely fun, challenging, and rewarding.

I recognise the many people globally who take part in the cyclekart community. I was attracted by “the race winner is the one with the most smiles” and the obvious generosity of those involved. I’ve learnt a lot from so many!

I’m in Aotearoa New Zealand, so the CycleKarts NZ group is important. I hope to get to some of their events, so their New Zealand Build Guidelines figure highly in my plans and construction!
